Child Molestation (Victim Under 14 Years Old)

Any person who touches a child's body (under the age of 14), or causes a child to touch their body, can be charged with this crime if their intent with the touching was to arouse, appeal to, or gratify the lust, passions, or sexual desires of himself or the child.

This crime gets filed by the District Attorney's Office even if the accused is a juvenile under the age of 14 himself. Upon conviction of this felony, an adult faces up to numerous years in state prison and lifetime sex-offender registration. Depending on the circumstances and the age of the accused, a juvenile may or may not have to register as a sex-offender.

It is important to contact an attorney immediately if accused of this crime, or even if being investigated by the police prior to an arrest.
